United Nations Security Council (UNSC)
The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression. It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. In some cases, the Security Council can resort to imposing sanctions or even authorize the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security.
This committee is aimed at confident beginners who wish to challenge themselves as well as those already with MUN conference experience.

Introduction
Hey everyone! I’m Jana, a sophomore in XIS.
Back in my first MUN, when I was in 7th grade, I had no idea what to do or what I was in for, and barely even qualified for the Participation Award as the only time I went on the podium and spoke, I stuttered and did not know that you can answer in “note form”. To this day, I do not know the meaning and implications of “note form”.
But I do know that, from my almost 3 year MUN journey, that despite how scared I was after my 1st conferences, I came back and here I am, preparing for my 8th MUN as Chair (and DSG). Not because I like the idea of endlessly editing resolutions or getting my amendments rejected, but because MUN is fun, and politics, convicting international criminals, and maintaining world peace is even more fun.
(You might notice that this is nearly identical to my DSG introduction, because it is.)

Greetings esteemed delegates, school leaders, and fellow student officers! Hello again! My name is Aurora, and this will be my third time chairing. I am honored to be serving as your deputy chair for SC as well as your Director General for XIAMUN XI. I will mainly be assissting your president chair on the second topic: “Nuclear disarmament in the Middle East”. I look forward to seeing delegates engage in thoughtful debate, propose creative and realistic solutions, and collaborate respectfully. Let’s work together to make this MUN productive, engaging, and fun as well!

Esteemed delegates, student officers, and directors,
Welcome to XIAMUN XI! I am Ian Wong, a 11th grade delegate from Xiamen International School. It is a pleasure for me to be the Deputy President of UNSC. This is the second time I am participating as a deputy president.
As chairperson for the session “Addressing the ongoing conflict in Sudan”, I am tackling an issue that intersects global politics, development, and security. Sudan faces severe humanitarian hardship and widespread instability caused by its internal armed conflict. Displacement, destroyed infrastructure, and collapsed public services threaten civilian lives and overwhelm state capacity. Negotiated ceasefires and targeted humanitarian aid frameworks can help reduce violence while supporting the recovery of vulnerable communities.
As your chair, I am committed to working hard, remaining fair, and committing my full attention to this committee. I will aim to ensure a fair, well-organized, and intellectually engaging debate where every delegate has the chance to speak and contribute. I expect all of you to come prepared, to take the discussion seriously, and to treat one another with respect.
I encourage all delegates to work together, share ideas, and move beyond fixed positions to find common ground. Let our debate be based on solid research, clear arguments, and respectful dialogue, as we work toward realistic solutions that address both political decisions and world peace. Our goal is not only to draft a strong resolution, but also to imagine a future where people of all race can live in safe and healthy environments.I look forward to seeing you all in committee and to a successful XIAMUN XI!
