United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)

The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on them. It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year.

This committee is suitable for beginners as well as those with slight experience of MUN.

Introduction

Hi delegates, My name is Sunshine Wang, a freshmen from Xiamen International School. This is my second year in MUN and it is my pleasure to serve as your deputy president of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The UNHRC promotes and protects human rights globally, it addresses human rights violations and provides a platform for dialogue on human rights issues. Since this is a beginner committee, I encourage all delegates to not be afraid and walk up to the podium to share your thoughts, take this committee as an opportunity to build and develop your skills! I’m looking forward to seeing you and having a wonderful debate at this conference!

Introduction

Hello delegates, I am Tina Yu, a freshman currently studying at Xiamen International School. This is my fifth time joining MUN, and my first time chairing. It is my great honor to serve as Deputy President for this UNHRC committee. In this debate, we will be discussing these two issues: preventing and countering trafficking in women and children, and addressing food insecurity and child malnutrition in LEDCs. You are very much encouraged to talk and discuss your ideas in this committee; you do not want to get called upon and forced to go to the podium!
