We are thrilled to announce that XIAMUN IX is currently in preparation, marking our first in-person event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

This year’s theme, “The Next Chapter”, aims to inspire participants to think beyond the current paradigms. The theme not only recognizes the world’s ongoing recovery and adaptation but also encourages young leaders to envision and shape the future chapters of global society.  

As we gather once again, XIAMUN is committed to providing an enriching and memorable experience for all attendees. Together, let’s embark on “The Next Chapter” and inspire the leaders of tomorrow.

The Next Chapter

As we stand on the brink of a new era, the concept of “The Next Chapter” calls us to look towards the horizon and imagine the potential changes that awaits us. The world we live in is experiencing a significant and rapidly increasing transformation, marked by seismic shifts such as the increasing prevalence of personnel shrinkage. These profound changes have ushered in a deep sense of uncertainty, but they also present an unparalleled opportunity to shape the trajectory of human civilization.

“The Next Chapter” urges us to move past limitations and adopt a courageous, futuristic perspective. It pushes us to go beyond small changes and imagine revolutionary models that can solve the underlying issues of the worldwide problems we encounter. The decisions we make now, such as changing our economic systems for sustainability and fairness, utilizing new technologies for the benefit of everyone, and reconsidering global governance, will have lasting effects on the world future generations that we will live in.

This theme encourages us to be bold in our goals, to have a broad vision for the future, and to work together across different boundaries and beliefs for a brighter future. We can deal with interconnected challenges like climate change and increasing authoritarianism, “The Next Chapter” emphasizes the need to form new partnerships, develop creative yet feasible solutions, and bolster upcoming leaders. Only through accepting this sense of potential can we guarantee that the next few decades will be the start of a more sustainable, fair, and sturdy period for everyone. 

The Conference

Xiamen International School has proudly organized the XIAMUN Model United Nations conference since the 2010-2011 academic year. Beginning with a small cohort of participants, the program has steadily grown over the past decade, now hosting nearly 300 delegates from more than a dozen schools across Asia. 

At the core of XIAMUN’s mission is the development of student leaders. Delegates are granted valuable opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and passion for Model UN, thereby empowering them to guide the next generation of MUN students. The conference prides itself on being highly suitable for both beginner and intermediate delegates, while also offering relevant chair positions for experienced participants. 

This year marks XIAMUN’s 9th annual conference and Xiamen International School’s first in-person event since the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of this special occasion, the school has chosen to host the three-day conference on Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located off the coast of Xiamen. The first two days of the conference will take place on the island, with the final day being held on the Xiamen International School campus. 

Xiamen International School extends a warm welcome to all delegates and looks forward to the meaningful discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and transformative learning experiences that will shape this year’s XIAMUN conference.
